A 1970s house in dire need of a makeover. Enter Jones Architecture. We stripped back the tired interior, opened up the solid exterior and reconfigured the plan entirely. The result exudes a sense of space and calm, the panoramic views are are countered by the tonal interior, simple but noble finishes inhabit clean and legible spaces. The introduction of a partially raised floor and sliding walls to the living level allows study and TV functions to coexist whilst enjoying the views over the lower space. The exterior brickwork was rendered and painted a shadowy tone to anchor the house to the escarpment. Compare the before image above, with the fourth image below.
